Salute to Pops Favorites

Join the Melrose Symphony for a spectacular grand finale of the season with an evening of pops favorites on Saturday, May 5 at 8 PM. 

The orchestra, under the direction of Yoichi Udagawa, will perform music from favorite childhood cartoons, selections from the musical Oklahoma, and a special tribute to the 30th anniversary of the movie ET.

Russian-born flamenco guitarist, Grisha Goryachev, will also perform Rodrigo’s popular Concierto de Arajuez.

Grisha Goryachev began playing guitar at the age of six, and by age nine led an extensive career as a child prodigy.   He has toured internationally and won numerous awards, including the prize for best performance of Spanish Music at the VI International Classical Guitar Competition in Almería, Spain.

Grisha’s YouTube videos have collected over two million views; he has also recorded two CDs, Alma Flamenca and Homenaje a Sabicas.   A track from his album Alma Flamenca was used in the movie Duplicity starring Julia Roberts.

Tickets are $29 for general admission; $37 for table seating and can be purchased online.

General admission tickets can be purchased in-store by cash or check only at Sweet Thoughts or Miter Biter, both on Main Street in Melrose.
