Hot Off the T: Anime, Easter Brunch and More

Five things to do in Boston this weekend.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five events within walking distance of the Orange Line. Head down to Oak Grove and go have some fun.

1) Brandon Jellison is running the Boston Marathon and needs help making his charitable goal of $3,000. You can help him and Brigham and Women’s Hospital by attending his 5 p.m. Saturday at The Mission. Take the Orange Line to Roxbury Crossing and walk 11 minutes to The Mission.

2) Geek-culture lovers will descend upon Hynes Convention Center this weekend for Anime Boston 2012. The weekend-long events include gaming, art galleries, karaoke and more. 3) Anime not your thing? Then make time for the symphony. The Boston Symphony Orchestra, conductor Christoph von Dohnanyi  and opera singers Anna Prohaska and Hanno Muller-Brachmann will perform Brahms’s “A German Requiem” 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets start at $32. Take the Orange Line to Mass. Ave. Station and walk three minutes to Symphony Hall.

4) There’s still time to see the circus. The tent remains firmly tied down to City Hall Plaza for another weekend. Shows start at noon and 4:30 p.m., and tickets are $20. Take the Orange Line to State Street and walk two minutes to City Hall Plaza.

5) Sunday is Easter, so the calendar pickings are pretty slim. If you aren’t heading out of town to see family, or if you aren’t someone who celebrates the holiday, there are Easter brunch options at several great downtown eateries, including the ($62), ($39) and ($39). Be sure to make a reservation since these are highly-attended events. Check the restarant websites for directions.
