Students in Need Get Back-to-School Supplies in Melrose

Melrose students in need recently received back-to-school supplies thanks to the efforts of a local business owner.

Students started off the school year with new backpacks, pencils and notebooks thanks to Chris Cinella of Edward Jones Investments and his customers, according to a city press statement.

Cinella and his clients collected school supplies throughout the summer to benefit the Melrose Emergency Fund and delivered them to Mayor Rob Dolan's office last week, according to the statement. The supplies were then distributed early this week, the statement adds.

"Thanks to Chris Cinella and Edward Jones, we were able to provide brand-new school supplies to a number of Melrose families who would otherwise have experienced hardship," Dolan said in the statement. "I am very grateful to Chris and his staff for coordinating this and to all those who donated school supplies."
