MEC workshop: Solar discounts for Melrose homes and businesses

After a recent on-line survey indicated that Melrose residents have a strong interest in learning more about solar energy, the City applied for and received a grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) to participate in the Solarize Mass Program. Melrose is one of 17 Massachusetts Green Communities eligible for the program, which offers discounts to homeowners and businesses interested in installing photovoltaic (PV) panels.

Solarize Mass is part of an effort to reach Governor Patrick's goal of 250 megawatts of installed solar power by 2017.

On Wednesday, May 23, the Melrose Energy Commission (MEC), in partnership with the MassCEC, is hosting a Solar 101 workshop at the Milano Senior Center, 201 West Foster St., from 7-9 p.m. This free presentation will provide information about the basics of going solar, the Solarize Mass program, and a question-and-answer session with representatives from the MassCEC.
