Bargainpalooza on Quesadillas, Facials, Puppy Kindergarten and More

Family-friendly discounts around town this week.

Well, Easter, Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day are all now behind us. Fill in the gap between today and Memorial Day with some rather festive savings, on everything from pretty toes to better behaving dogs. Oh, and kids' meals; places are practically giving them away lately, as long as you hit the right day. Read on and save. (Remember to check with the merchant for additional conditions.)

Don’t forget you're part of this column too. Let us hear about deals you've seen. Just add them to our comment box, at the bottom of this page. Then come back each week and see what we’ve uncovered together.

Qdoba Mexican Grill

Deal: It's true: This isn't exactly a support-small-businesses discount. But there's something to be said about a free kid's meal, you know. Visit Qdoba's Saugus location (in the Trader Joe's plaza) on any Tuesday, order yourself a meal and get a kid's meal for free. Recommendation of the week: the Mexican gumbo and Qdoba's nifty online nutrition calculator, both a dieter's dream.

J.J. Grimsby's

Deal: Okay, so this one is local. Staying with our theme, allow us to remind you that Stoneham stalwart J.J. Grimsby's offers kids' meals for only $1 on Mondays and Tuesdays. Take the savings and blow it on Grimsby's gooey and delectable Chocolate Volcano. (Not that we would know anything about that.)

Deal: Of course, you could also apply those meal savings to getting your nails done. It's not like you don't deserve it, especially when you consider how easy it would be to print out the $3 off $30/$5 off $40/$8 off $60/$15 off $100 coupon on Angel Nails & Spa's website. That deluxe spa manicure is not going to book itself, you know.

Good through: No expiration currently

Deal: (Well, looky there. Now we've got a new theme going.) Studio 786 in Melrose claims that every day in May is Mother's Day, and we're certainly not going to argue with them. We'd also certainly not argue with their May deal, which gives you $20 off either the salon's basic or anti-aging facial, bringing the prices down to $50 and $65, respectively.

Good through: May 31

Deal: Fido getting a little extra frisky as of late? Teach him the obedience ropes with the help of Canine University in Malden, where the organization of classes for man's best friend put real universities' offerings to shame. Private training is usually $100/hour, but buy four lessons and get the whole shebang for $375. Not that bad, when you consider the trainer in question wrote The Everything Dog Training and Tricks Book.
