Five Minutes with Burn 60's Janet Crown

The interval-style workout has transformed the bodies of Hollywood celebrities such as Marcia Cross, Jaime King and Chris O'Donnell—and you could be next!

It's certainly not a secret that Brentwood residents enjoy working out and keeping fit (scan San Vicente Boulevard on any given day at any given hour if you need further proof). With an abundance of methods and stylized gyms available in the area, maintaining a trimmed and toned physique has never been more manageable.

One such location that has grown rapidly in popularity is . Created by Janet Crown, Burn 60 has captivated the athletic hearts of active Brentwood residents since 2005.

Patch sat down with Crown to learn more about the Burn 60 method and how it might revolutionize the way you think and feel about physical fitness.

Brentwood Patch: How did Burn 60 originate, and how did you select the name of the studio?

Janet Crown: I learned about interval training and loved the efficiency and effectiveness of it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a facility that I liked, so I decided to open my own, and our doors have been open since June 2005. I was the demographic, so it was easy to relate to what busy moms needed.

The name came naturally. Burn 60 said it all: a 60 minute workout where you burn as much off as you can.

Patch: What do the Burn 60 workouts entail?

Crown: Changing up your workout is critical if you want results. Each Burn 60 class is divided into alternating intervals of walking, jogging, or running on a treadmill with floor work consisting of a combination of strength and resistance training, utilizing ever changing routines of weights, bars, bands, kettle bells, bosu balls, plyometrics and other state of the art techniques.

I’ve gone all over Los Angeles and taken every class to recruit the best trainers. The Burn 60 team of trainers is the best in the city. They are committed and work together to make sure every class is the best it can be.

Patch: What kind of results can a Burn 60 student expect?

Crown: Each class is designed to maximize calorie burn (up to 600 calories per class) and increase strength and stamina, all while sculpting your body like no other workout. Regardless of fitness level or age, Burn 60 will make you better, stronger, leaner, faster and more flexible, guaranteed.

Patch: How does Burn 60 stand out from other gyms and fitness studios?

Crown: Burn 60 is dedicated to providing clients with a total fitness solution. You don’t get that in bigger gyms or in the popular boutiques. We spend considerable time developing classes and schedules that complement one another in a way that truly provides the client with a total fitness solution. We provide cardiovascular, strength and endurance training in a comfortable yet professional atmosphere. Our philosophy is to bring you the best personal training in a group setting that creates the most efficient and effective results.

We also provide personal attention to clients who seek it with respect to developing personal fitness goals and programs to achieve those goals, such as nutrition planning and tracking. This provides a unique brand of service that is personalized at a very affordable price.
