Escape: It All Depends On Your Definition of 'Bizarre'

Offbeat craft show returns to Boston just in time for some primo stocking stuffers.

Not that you can get sick of another silk-flower wreath or another soy candle, but...well, sometimes you can. Good news! We have the remedy for your craft fair ennui and it's just in time for the beginning of that wonderful time of year known as holiday shopping season: the Bazaar Bizarre, which will roar into town on Sunday, Dec. 4, from noon until six.

A Boston-area tradition since 2001 (and now being held in three other cities), the Bazaar Bizarre showcases some of the most untraditional, fun-loving crafters from the region. Want an irreverent magnet? You'll find it there. Handknit beer koozies featuring skulls and crossbones? No problem. Bicycle neclackes and crab claw sculptures? Bazaar Bizarre has you covered.

Expect everything to be locally crafted and handmade. Plus the entire event is a nonprofit effort, with the $1 (yes, one single dollar) admission and vendor fees only going toward things like the cost of the website and the event venue.

Speaking of the venue, this year's wacky craft bonanza will be held at the , down on Tremont Street in the South End. The Cyclorama is an easy walk from a number of T stops, including the Orange Line Back Bay Station.

For more information, browse the Bazaar Bizarre Boston site. We recommend taking a quick look at the Seven Super Tips for Shoppers, which include some helpful hints on how to best make your way through the eccentric craft show.
