New Fitness Business to Open in Melrose This Fall

A new fitness business will be opening its doors to customers in the fall, according to Sean Mallett, director for Millions of Muscles Fitness.

Millions of Muscles, a member of the Melrose Chamber of Commerce, will officially open on Oct. 7 at 645 Main St., but before that on Sept. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. the business will be having a grand opening party, according to Mallett. The party will include entertainment, raffles, prizes, recipe demonstrations, music and more, he added.

When the nearly 5,000-square-foot business opens, Millions of Muscles will have five employees and they plan to add body transformation specialists to the team in the future, according to Mallett. The business has three rooms and is located on the bottom floor of the First United Methodist Church, he added.

"Our program is primarily large and small group training," Mallett said of the business. "The sessions are 45-minute full body workouts using various equipment for strength and conditioning. The workouts will be new, fun, challenging, functional and results driven every time.

"We will guide you to make the right nutritional decisions. (Millions of Muscles) provides a fun and educational program that welcomes everyone. We are going to push you past your comfort zone in a non-intimidating environment."

Mallett discussed why Melrose, which will offer personal training, was chosen as the newest location. There is also a location in Revere.

"The reason we chose Melrose over other communities was the area itself. Main Street is amazing and all of the cities surrounding Melrose are health conscience," Mallett said. "It is also close enough to Revere so that our current clients will be able to stay (and) enjoy our brand new facility. The small business community, along with the Chamber of Commerce is very supportive and have guided us with the ins and outs of Melrose, (and) we have enjoyed working with all of them."

Millions of Muscles, which will be participating in the city's Victorian Fair on Sept. 8, will be kicking off their new location with their third annual six-week "I Want the 'Whole' Package!" Body Transformation Challenge, according to Mallett. Participants will compete to gain points to win prizes, while the overall winner will receive a $1,000 gift card to Whole Foods and a $200 makeover from Melrose-based Demiche Beauté, he added. 

"(Millions of Muscles) is also partnering with local small businesses to give away weekly prizes for accomplishments throughout the contest. It is going to be very exciting," Mallett said. "In addition to participating in our amazing fitness sessions, members will be losing weight, gaining confidence while making friends and reaching goals."

As far as the business is concerned, "the space itself is in great shape but needs some minor work. We will be painting, adding a new floor and other special touches that will make it a fun and friendly place to get your workout in," Mallett said.
