New Management at Oak Grove Village to Allow Pets

Five of the 12 buildings are expected to allow dogs, according to a statement posted on the Oak Grove Village Facebook page.

New management of will be making some changes and one of them appears to be allowing dogs on the property, according to a statement posted on the complex's Facebook page.

Five of the 12 residential buildings are expected to allow dogs, according to the statement. Melrose Patch attempted several times to speak with a representative of Windsor, which manages Oak Grove Village, for specifics about the new pet policy, but none of our messages were returned.

Here is the full statement posted to the Oak Grove Village Facebook page:

"Thank you for expressing your concern regarding the dog policy. While change is something we all have difficulty with, we can assure you this change in ownership is a great change and as you can already see we have been very busy in bringing the level of curb appeal at the community up another notch with all the beautiful flowers and landscape changes as well as the refinishing of the benches in our courtyards. The new management team, Windsor, is very focused on making your resident experience the best it can be. While we understand the dog policy change may not be sitting well with some of our residents we can assure you by no means will this change inhibit your experience, but allow us to stay competitive in the market with these changing times. There are a lot of both current residents as well as inquiring potential residents that would love to continue here, but want a dog or live here for the first time, but have a dog. Why not allow them that same opportunity? The dog policy is extremely strict and will be heavily enforced. In addition we will only be allowing the dogs in 5 of the 12 residential buildings. We know that it is hard to imagine having these furry friends in our community, but we think it will be great and hope that once you see them on site you will also embrace this change as something good for everyone. Windsor owns and manages sites across the country and allows dogs and cats at all of their communities as does our most if not all of our competitors in the area. This is something that we are excited to implement here at Windsor at Oak Grove and we will be happy to work with those of you that still have some concerns. So we may continue to help you acclimate to this change in policy, for all future questions or concerns about this, please feel free to contact the management office directly or Laurie Bolio the Property Manager so we may quickly respond to your needs. Thank you."

On Paul Weston's blog, he wrote: The Real Reporter, an on-line site for the commercial property industry in the Greater Boston area, is reporting that the Oak Grove apartment complex located in Malden and Melrose and owned by Fidelity Investment, is being sold to General Investment & Development for about $185 million to $190 million, according to industry insiders.

Residents were notified last month via letter about the possibility that the complex could be sold, read the blog.

According to information on the city's property assessment database, Oak Grove Village has a total value of $61,622,600. The building value accounts for $49,548,700 of that value, read the blog.

Built in two phases, with phase one completed in 2007 and phase two completed in 2009, Oak Grove Village has a 550 apartments and seven retail spaces along Main Street and main entrance to the complex, read the blog.

Concerning the assessment information, every time someone writes an article about the complex, they never seem to add in the value of the Malden portion of the property.
