Staff Transform Former Foodmaster into Whole Foods

The new Melrose Whole Foods will open Wednesday at 10 a.m., after a brief bread-breaking ceremony at 9:45 a.m.

Shoppers will barely recognize the new Melrose Whole Foods, which transforms the now closed Johnnie's Foodmaster location into a whole new experience

Along with standard groceries, the store will offer amenities like freshly made pasta, pizza to order and a full-blown butcher, offering freshly pressed sausages and more.

The new store opens Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., with a 9:45 a.m. bread-breaking ceremony.

Five local charitable organizations will receive 1% each of the opening day's sales. The groups were selected by Mayor Robert Dolan and include: The Servant's Heart Food Pantry, the Melrose Emergency Fund, Bingham Community Playground, Friends of the Aging and the Melrose Education Foundation.
