Wegmans Food Markets announced on Tuesday that its Chestnut Hill store will have a grand opening celebration on Sunday, April 27. The 10,500 square-foot wine, beer and spirits shop part of the store, which will be on the second floor, will open on Saturday, March 29.
Despite earlier hopes that the Burlington's Wegmans may open in the spring, the company is now looking to open in the fall. A grand opening date for the Burlington location should come over the summer.
The Burlington location will be in the new 3rd Ave. project off Middlesex Turnpike. The Wegmans opening is just one of many new businesses expected to open in Burlington this year.
Wegmans Chestnut Hill is recruiting employees for full- and part-time positions at its second Massachusetts store, which will be located on Route 9 as part of Chestnut Hill Square. The whole store will be about 80,000 square feet and will be across the street from the Chestnut Hill Mall.
“We’re thrilled to announce the grand opening date of our new Chestnut Hill store, one that we’ve been looking forward to for some time,” said Rich Boscia, store manager, Wegmans Chestnut Hill. “The Greater Boston community has already welcomed us with open arms. We can’t wait to provide our Chestnut Hill customers with the incredible customer service and the unique shopping experience that people have come to expect from Wegmans.”
In addition to the location in Northborough, the new one in Chestnut Hill and the location coming to Burlington, Wegmans is also planning to open in Westwood and has plans to open in the Fenway part of Boston.
