What's Open, Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Melrose

Retail stores are open for business Dec. 24.

Here's a list of what's open and closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas in Melrose:

Christmas Eve (Monday, Dec. 24):

  • Retail stores: Most open, some with varied hours.
  • Supermarkets, liquor stores and convenience stores: Most open.
  • Bars and restaurants: Most open.
  • Stock market: Closes at 1 p.m.
  • Municipal offices: Closed.
  • Banks: Some open, most close early.
  • Library: Closed.
  • Schools: Closed.
  • Post office: Open, although many will close at noon. Regular mail delivery will take place, last mailbox collections will be at noon.
  • MBTA: Operating on a modified schedule.

Christmas (Tuesday, Dec. 25):

Other holiday hours of operation notes from Melrose businesses:

  • Jitters Cafe, 12 Main St., will be closed on Christmas. New Year's day the cafe is opening at 9 a.m. 
  • Bodyography, 18A Essex St., will be closed Dec. 24-25, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The store will be open on Sunday, Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • Coffee Tea and Me, 421 Main St., will be open on Christmas Eve on regular hours until 4 p.m., and Christmas until 6 p.m. New Year's day will be regular hours.
