Bargains for Pets and Humans Alike

Family-friendly discounts around town.

Deal: We know some people out there are ambivalent about tanning salons, but we thought this was a pretty interesting offer: Come into the Main Street tanning parlor within seven days of your 18th birthday and get a week of tanning for free.

Deal: This one's over tonight, so we'll make it quick: For today only, the ultra-seasonal pumpkin facial at Forever Young is only $55. Cheaper yet? Today's $45 deep-cleansing facial. Run, ladies. Run.

Deal: Restaurants are so fancy nowadays, what with all the online ordering and virtual checkouts. Reap the benefits of culinary technological advancement by taking advantage of Bertucci's current $10-off-an-online-order-of-$20-or-more offer. Actually, given Bertucci's prices and popularity (the Reading location gets pretty packed on weekend evenings), that's a decent deal. (While you're at it, like Bertucci's on Facebook and get a free appetizer.)

Xquisite Salon & Day Spa

Deal: Even the best-coiffed of us enjoy a good freebie now and then. The new Xquisite Salon & Day Spa at the edge of Stoneham's Central Square is well-acquainted with this notion, which would explain its Grand Opening special: Get a free haircut if you book a color, or get a free eyebrow wax with a facial. There's also impressive new customer and referral discounts on the website.

mtlessing

Local Etsy Deal of the Week: We're kind of fudging this one, because the Etsy shop in question, mtlessing, is just part of Melrose doggy-bed entrepreneur Michelle Lessing's online empire, Lilly & Abbie's Custom Dog Beds. Regardless, the gorgeous, colorful (and comfy-for-man's-best-friend) goods are worth a solid look-see. We admit: Many of the prices don't exactly fall into the category of "frugal." But considering that the beds (and collars! Don't forget the eyecatching and more affordable collars!) are hand-crafted, often custom-made and about as local as you can get, we're making an exception. The other part of our argument? For Melrose-based shoppers, it gets even better: Enter Melrose11 at checkout (on either the site or Etsy shop) and have your purchase delivered right to your home for free.
