Scholarships Available for Wakefield Repertory Theatre's Summer Theatre Program

WRYT's Summer Theatre Program is offering full partial scholarships. Applications are due by May 15.

Full and partial scholarships are available for Wakefield Repertory Youth Theatre’s summer camp program.  The program is open to students entering grades 5 through 9 and will take place at Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School June 24 through August 3.  This summer’s production will be the musical “Annie”.  The program teaches children about all aspects of theater, ranging from onstage singing, dancing and acting to the behind-the-scenes magic of set design, lighting and costuming.

The cost of the summer program is $850 per student. For two or more siblings, a $100 discount is offered for the second (or more) child.  It is the sincere intent of Wakefield Repertory Theatre that no student who might benefit from participation in the program be excluded for purely financial reasons. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available for those who qualify.  Applications can be downloaded from http://wakefieldrep.org/images/2013/WRYTScholarshipInfo13.doc and must be submitted no later than May 15.  Applicants will be informed of scholarship decisions before auditions begin on June 10.

The camp hours are generally Monday-Friday from 8am-2:00pm, except during the last two weeks. The daily program is held at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School’s air-conditioned and state-of-the-art auditorium. In addition to rehearsing the show, students participate in warm-ups, team building exercises, arts related activities and a series of workshops led by staff and guest artists and speakers.  More information on the camp is available at www.wakefieldep.org.
