Caring About Your Heart: Seniors Helping Seniors of Metro-North Can Help with Care

Seniors Helping Seniors of Metro-North offers an extended family support system to care for seniors needing non-medical help with caregivers who are local, active, compassionate older adults.

Hearts are usually associated with the warm feelings we have for those we love. Especially, in the month of February, National Heart Month, when the focus is on heart disease, Seniors Helping Seniors understands how much love goes into caring. Nurturing relationships with those we care about involves considering how we can best meet their needs. A thoughtful gift, quality time, a caring note can mean so much.

Caring for an elderly parent, spouse, sibling or friend, though, can be overwhelming and put strain on relationships.  We can develop a heavy heart when there is so  much on our plate and we feel there is little left to give.

At Seniors Helping Seniors, we strive to be the extended family support system that cares for those seniors needing any non- medical help. Our employees are local, active older adults, who know the area and understand the seasons of life. It’s a wonderful feeling to help others, too. As our slogan states: It’s "...a way to give and receive."

We provide companionship, prepare delicious meals and assist with household chores for a couple in North Reading. The husband is frail and has some dementia. Since the wife has had a stroke, Seniors Helping Seniors has significantly eased her burden. She can now enjoy the time with her husband and family, get out to exercise and run errands, without worrying about her husband. He is receiving excellent care while she gets some much-needed time to take care of her own needs and relax.

In Winchester, a daughter, who is a heart patient, is caring for her mother in her home. Having competent, friendly help there when her mother, who is quite frail, gets up at night, allows her to get a good night’s sleep. When people receive the care they need with loving kindness, their hearts and bodies are refreshed. It can make all the difference in long-term care.

This February, we hope you have a special Valentine’s Day, nurturing those relationships that are most important to you. Getting compassionate support from a paid caregiver for your family member can be a wonderful way to take care of everyone’s emotional and physical health needs.

We offer free, in-home consultations at your convenience. Some services may be covered by insurance. We serve Eastern Middlesex County towns, including Andover, Burlington, Lynnfield, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Tewksbury, Wakefield, Wilmington, Winchester, Woburn, MA, as well as other surrounding towns. We can meet your needs.
