A Condo Block Nears Approval, Dolan Runs Unopposed and The Farmer's Market Moves

A look back at Melrose's top stories of the week.

Discussions development at 185 Essex St. near the Cedar Park Commuter Rail stop. Developers met with the Melrose Planning Board on Monday night to review their site plan to demolish the current building and build a four-story complex in its place.

Melrose's biennial city election is coming up in November, but one race is already over.  for his seat in the election scheduled for Nov. 8, after the deadline to take out nomination papers to run for mayor passed on Friday, July 29, with only Dolan pulling papers for the office.

Unfortunately, the current location is too small for their means, and both patrons and vendors alike have expressed interest in relocating.

Police and Fire

Boston Police arrested a 39-year-old Melrose man on Monday in Back Bay after he and was chased down by a Good Samaritan and an off-duty cop, according to a Boston Police press release.

A caller reported a teen of Melrose Highlands Congregational Church on Franklin Street. They were transported to the hospital.

The suspect sought by Melrose Police after a early morning break-in at the Winthrop Schooltwo weeks ago after police released surveillance photos of him at the Shell gas station the same morning as the break-in, covered in blood.
