A Suspicious Fire, A Contentious Dog Park and an Iron Woman

A look back at Melrose's top stories of the week.

A small storage shed at the rear of the industrial district on Washington Street , the latest in a string of suspicious fires at the soon-to-be redeveloped industrial site.

Plans to build a dog park at  face as neighborhood residents voiced their concerns about traffic, noise, dog waste, and several other issues at the  public hearing on Monday night. Most of the residents who spoke at the hearing said they were in favor of a dog park, but several residents said they were against the proposed location.

Melrose native Meghan McClorey swapped her running shoes for a pair of cross trainers, and . It was the 23-year-old East Foster Street resident's first triathlon.

Police

The  branch at 27 Melrose St. July 6 by a man who passed a note to a teller, according to Melrose Police. Officers responded to the bank at 4 p.m. last Wednesday after the alarm company called to report a panic/hold-up alarm activiated at the branch.

Two 16-year-olds for assault and battery after Melrose Police responded to  on Main Street after a woman reported a young man bleeding.

A resident of Melrose for over 20 years, Mark Hurley, of East Highland Street, from Babson College to Bourne in the 32nd annual Pan-Mass Challenge on August 6 and 7.
