BREAKING: Melrose DPW Making Emergency Repairs to Ruptured Water Main

The Melrose Public Works Department's Water Division is working on emergency repairs to the water system on Main Street near Ingalls Court in the block between Upham Street and Emerson Street on Tuesday, according to Director John Scenna.

"The 14-inch diameter water main ruptured overnight and a section of it will require replacement today," Scenna wrote in an email to Melrose Patch. "Water service is off on Main Street between Upham and Emerson and will remain off into (Tuesday) afternoon as repairs are completed."

Additionally, Main Street northbound from Upham to Emerson Street is closed to traffic, according to Scenna. Traffic is being detoured from Main Street to Upham onto Lebanon, and Emerson from Lebanon to Main is currently closed but will re-open shortly, according to Scenna.
