DNA Leads to Murder Charge; Wine at Wakefield Farmers' Market, and More

  • WOBURN—A Charlestown man has been indicted on charges alleging he killed a man at a Medford home in February, prosecutors said. Investigators were led to Gerald Sullivan, 37, by DNA collected at 55 Jerome Street that was matched with a sample in a criminal database, according to a statement from Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone.

 

  • WAKEFIELD—The 2011 Wakefield Farmers’ Market will be selling bottled wine from a local winery this year, thanks to a special allowance for wine sales at farmers' markets recently passed into law in Massachusetts and approval from the Wakefield Board of Selectmen.The winery, Charlton Orchards from Charlton, MA specializes in interesting wine products, from blackberry wine to apple wine, and will have its wines on sale from the beginning of the Farmers’ Market on Saturdays from July 9 through October 8, from 9am – 1 p.m.

  • Photos: Truck Rollover on Mount Washington Avenue: MALDEN—A truck rolled over on Mount Washington Avenue while emptying a load on a steep incline Tuesday afternoon. GTA, a contractor for the city, owns the truck. No one was injured in the incident. There was, however, some damage to a retaining wall and porch as well as a couple utility poles. National Grid was on the scene and cut power to the downed lines.  G/J Towing righted the truck without further damaging any of the obstacles in their way.

 

  • : READING—After a wait so long that it had some Reading residents wondering if it would ever happen, a demolition crew this week began tearing down the old Atlantic Market in Reading's downtown. Crews began tearing the building down on Tuesday and spent Thursday morning clearing away debris.
