The Weekend: MAAV Walk, B Street Band, and More

What's happening in and around Melrose this weekend? Melrose Patch has you covered.

What: , in collaboration with Melrose merchants and support from the , has announced the 4th Annual Window Art Walk. 

The "Walk" features the work of Melrose artists, displayed in storefront window along Main Street. This year, as last, the work of  students is also featured. Maps of the Art Walk will be available at each location for viewers to follow.

What: Most items at this yard sale will not be priced - name your best reasonable price to take an item away. Negotiate your way to a mutually beneficial deal.

There will be furniture, vintage typewriters, cameras (from the 1960s-1970s), Irish collectibles, LPs, books: a real smorgasbord of items.

Where: 22 Harrison St., Melrose, MA

When: Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

What:: This performance of the popular Bruce Springsteen tribute band is a benefit for Polymnia Choral Society, which has been bringing high quality choral music to the North Shore area for over 50 years.

The BStreet Band is the world's longest running tribute band. It was formed in Asbury Park, New Jersey, in May, 1980, and has performed from Maine to the Bahamas for well over 3 million people.  Featuring Springsteen look-alike Glenn Stuart, the band will play Springsteen favorites as well as dance music. 

Where: , 590 Main St., Melrose

When: Saturday, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m.

Admission: Tickets are $25 or $30 for table tickets.  They are available at Peacuddy's, 506 Franklin, Melrose, Miter Biter, 479 Main Street and the Bohemian Coffeehouse, 132 West Emerson, Melrose, or call Steve at 617-633-5006. For more information see www.polymnia.org.

What: Kids and their families are welcome to join experienced Fells hike leaders Gael and Rich Motz for fall exploration in the area up above Spot Pond, on mostly easy hills and trails, with great rocks, friendly trees and nature games. Before or after the hike, the kids can enjoy the new playground and picnic area. Please bring your own snacks. We will conduct this hike regardless of weather conditions, so please dress accordingly. When: Sunday, Oct. 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

FREE 

What: The Candlelight Vigil commemorates victims of domestic violence over the past year and begins at 4:00 pm in the MVMMS cafeteria. The event includes music, a community-wide art project, and brief remarks by Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone, recipient of MAAV's 1st Annual Advocacy in Action Award. This will be followed by a 2-mile Walk around Ell Pond and downtown Melrose, returning to MVMMS for refreshments. Dogs welcome along the route!

When: Sunday, Oct. 23, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. 

FREE, but donations accepted.
