Get Out to Celebrate Christmas

Have lunch with the community for free on Christmas Day.

Where/When: , 179 Green St., Melrose/Sunday, Dec. 25 at 12:30 p.m. 

Why go? Take your family to the temple to partake in a convivial meal with members of Temple Beth Shalom and First Baptist Church. While reservations are not required, they are seriously encouraged. To reserve a spot or arrange for transportation, please call the Melrose Council on Aging, 781-665-4304.


Where/When: , 191 Highland Ave., Somerville/Saturday, Dec. 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

Why go? On Christmas Eve, buy fresh bread, locally produced honey, cheese, apples and vegetables, wine and other food. 


Where/When: , 230 Mishawum Road, Woburn/Friday, Dec. 23, from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. 

Why go? Wear your ugliest Christmas sweater, drink Applehead beer and down pub fare. There will be live music and drawings for prizes. 


Where/When: , 395 Main St., Stoneham/Friday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. 

Why go? Learn and laugh about Catholic holiday traditions. 

Cost: $44-$48 for regular admission; students get in for $20 

and Services at First Congregational Church

Where/When:  121 W Foster St., Melrose/5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24; 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 25. 

Why go? Take part in the original Christmas tradition. 


There is also a 7 p.m. Christmas Eve service at , a 10:30 a.m. Christmas Day service at the , among many other events at religious institutions in Melrose.
