Hot Off the T: 5 Things to Do in Boston This Weekend

Two parades; some jazz and classical music; and wedding gowns.

(All events are in walking distance from Orange Line stops on the MBTA.)

  1. : One of the biggest and oldest parades around kicks off at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday in Charlestown. Check out. But hey, you're taking the T, right?
    Take the Orange Line to the Community College stop and walk 5 minutes to Main Street where you can watch the parade.

  2. : The owners of Wally's Jazz Cafe in the South End are being honored by the Jazz Journalists Association for providing a forum for young Boston area players. To celebrate, the club will host a special "satellite party" on Saturday, from 1 - 5 p.m. WGBH jazz radio hosts Eric Jackson and Steve Schwartz will present the award to the family when it is announced in New York.
    Take the Orange Line to Back Bay Station and walk 10 minutes to Wally's at 427 Mass. Ave. 

  3. PRIDE PARADE: The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community holds its 41st parade starting at City Hall at 12 p.m. on Saturday. With 186 groups registered to march .
    Take the Orange Line to Haymarket Station and walk 5 minutes to City Hall. 

  4. HEAR CLASSICAL MUSIC: The Boston Early Music Festival kicks off on Sunday with a few events, including an opera performance at 3 p.m. at the Cutler Majestic Theatre at Emerson College and a Gala Opening Night Reception at 7 p.m. at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, 138 St. James Avenue.
    Take the Orange Line to Chinatown Station for the performance at Emerson. Take the Orange Line to Back Bay Station for the opening night reception at the Fairmont Copley Plaza.

  5.
