Hot Off the T: Getting to the Bruins Victory Parade and More

Five things to do in Boston this weekend.

All events are in walking distance from Orange Line stops on the MBTA.)

  1. : On Saturday at 11 a.m. it starts at the Garden on Causeway Street, takes a left onto Staniford Street, then a left onto Cambridge St. which turns onto Tremont Street, and finally a right onto Boylston St. where it ends in Copley Square. Look for our Patch photographers and maybe your mug will show up on Patch.
    Take the Orange Line to North Station to see the beginning of the parade or take the Orange Line to Back Bay Station and walk 2 minutes to Copley Square.
     
  2. LET SOMEONE ELSE GRILL FOR DAD: On Sunday at 3 p.m. there's a reasonably priced backyard barbecue party in the Back Bay with $1 oysters; $7 burgers; $2 sides; and $3 beers. It's at Post 390, 406 Stuart St. (on the corner of Clarendon).
    Take the Orange Line to Back Bay Station and walk 4 minutes to the restaurant.
     
  3. : A COMMUNITY DAY, JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT! On Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. the Esplanade will have fun filled, educational, and healthy activities for children and adults, including games, yoga, photography, and kids fishing. 
All activities are free.
    Take the Orange Line to Downtown Crossing Station and walk 18 minutes through the Boston Common to the park. Or cheat and take a Red Line train from Downtown Crossing heading towards Alewife Station, get off at Charles Street Station and walk 9 minutes to the park.
     
  4. BOSTON POPS: GOSPEL NIGHT: On Saturday at 8 p.m. an all-volunteer choir will perform at Grammy Award-winning gospel and R&B musician Edwin Hawkins (of "Oh Happy Day" fame) will make a guest appearance. Purchase tickets here. 
Pricing: $21-$91.
    Take the Orange Line to Massachusetts Avenue Station and walk 3 minutes to Symphony Hall.
     
  5. KIDS FUN RUN ON SPECTACLE ISLAND: On Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. If you're looking to escape the crowds at the Bruins victory parade on Saturday , you can make a quick exit out by taking an early ferry to Spectacle Island, one of the Boston Harbor Islands. Race day festivities feature a three-mile race and a half-mile Kids Fun Run, a BBQ lunch for participants provided by Jasper White's Summer Shack, music, and kid's activities. Cost is $25.
    Take the Orange Line to State Street Station and walk 9 minutes to Long Wharf. The island is only a short ferry ride from Long Wharf.
