Melrose's Fourth of July Celebrations Today

Parade for kids this morning at the Common; concert tonight at Mount Hood Memorial Park.

Happy Independence Day!

Today at Melrose Common, the Melrose Recreation Department will hold the annual bike and carriage parade. Registration for the 10 a.m. begins at 9:30 a.m.

Kids and families are encouraged to bring decorated bikes, wagons, carriages, scooters, skateboards or other custom rides and take part in the festivites. Pizza, snacks and drinks will be provided. Free face painting, games, activities and open house bounce will also be available for kids.

Tonight at 6:45 p.m., the Mount Hood Park Association will hold a concert in front of the Mount Hood Clubhouse with The Middlesex Concert band playing songs with a patriotic theme to celebrate the birth of our nation! During the last song of the evening, the "Parade of Children" waving American flags will be held.

Those attending the concert are asked to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the show. Popcorn, lemonade and free red, white and blue popsicles will be provided compliments of the Melrose Recreation and Park Departments and Golf Management Company.
