MALDEN—A man was stabbed three times during an altercation on Upham Street around 9 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police sought two suspects in connection with the attack, with one reportedly wearing a dark Northface brand jacket and red hat.

LONDON—A Wakefield athlete made national history on Thursday morning when she defeated Gemma Gibbons of Great Britain to win the gold medal in the women's half-heavyweight judo competition at the 2012 Olympics in London. 

Harrison, 22, who is originally from Middleton, Ohio, currently lives in Marblehead and trains at  in Wakefield, is a two-time national champion and won the world championship in 2010.

MEDFORD—After five years shuttered, Bestsellers Cafe re-opened Thursday morning and plans to hold a grand opening celebration later in August, according to an announcement on its Facebook page.

"We will officially be opening tomorrow morning at 7am!" the post, made Wednesday evening, said. "Yes, the permits are in order, books have been discounted, food has been ordered, new books (plenty) have arrived....and the staff are anxious to meet everyone and welcome the community, too!"

Cafe owner Rob Dilman went before the city council in July, which unanimously approved a common victuallers license for the bookstore/cafe/coffee shop. From there, a health inspection had to be conducted before the cafe could open.

STONEHAM—A North Andover woman accused of drunk driving crashed into a State Police cruiser early Friday morning on I-93 in Stoneham, according to a State Police press statement.

At 12:35 a.m., police responded to a car accident involving a State Police cruiser on I-93, according to the statement. A State Police trooper was inside the cruiser when it was struck by a 2004 Volkswagen Passat, according to a State Police spokesperson.
