  • : READING—Joseph Ronan, a 22-year-old Reading Memorial High School graduate, was on murdered on Monday afternoon. Police responded to reports of shots fired at 3 Lawrence Road at 1:08 p.m., according to a release from Leone's office. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the body of a young man with evidence of gunshot wounds. Ronan was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • : MEDFORD—Medford's Mayor and municipal unions signed off on a new health care agreement where union workers will leave the city's health plan for the state's Group Insurance Commission health coverage. The six-and-a-half year agreement projects to save the city over $25 million and save union employees about $9.7 million, Mayor Michael McGlynn said in a press conference Tuesday morning.
  • : STONEHAM—The Stoneham School Building Committee continued discussions concerning the creation of a new 5-8 grade middle school that would be constructed roughly 50 feet back and partially on the grounds of the current Stoneham Middle School.
  • : WAKEFIELD—Main Street and Albion Street closed to vehicular traffic and Wakefield businesses showed their wares outdoors as downtown streets became a pedestrian mall for one day. The Italian-themed event showed off the vigor and diversity of Wakefield's retail establishments. Restaurants, boutiques, banks, salons, and specialty shops were represented.
