MALDEN—Suspended Mystic Valley Regional Charter School teacher Kevin Hogan will not return as the head of the school's English department this year, after a Fox 25 news report last year revealed he had performed in same-sex pornographic videos just a year before starting at the school.

ARLINGTON—A 48-year-old Arlington man allegedly drugged a male friend’s beer on two occasions, and, each time, he then broke into the friend’s apartment and beat him while he was passed out, according to police.

Clyde Sommers, of Massachusetts Avenue, was arrested at about 9:39 a.m. Monday, July 23, for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery and felony breaking and entering, after the alleged victim went to Arlington Police Sunday morning.

WAKEFIELD—Wakefield Police are searching for a male suspect who robbed the Smith Street Bank of America around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Police said that at 9:39 a.m., a single male suspect entered bank, claimed to have a bomb and demanded money. The suspect fled on foot toward Water Street with an undetermined amount of cash. 

The suspect is described as a white male, in his mid 20s to early 30s, 5-foot-8, with a thin build and dark hair. He was wearing a dark baseball hat with an unknown logo, dark sunglasses, a surgical mask, a white long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and green latex gloves.

STONEHAM—A North Andover woman accused of drunk driving crashed into a State Police cruiser early Friday morning on I-93 in Stoneham, according to a State Police press statement.

At 12:35 a.m., police responded to a car accident involving a State Police cruiser on I-93, according to the statement. A State Police trooper was inside the cruiser when it was struck by a 2004 Volkswagen Passat, according to a State Police spokesperson. The trooper was taken to Lahey Clinic for treatment of back and neck pain, and he was treated and released, according to police. 

Carolyn Rogers, 44, of North Andover, is facing several charges, including operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor, failure to change lanes for an emergency vehicle, state highway violation, unregistered vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to notify RMV of name and address change, according to a State Police spokesperson.
