Power Knocked Out to Hundreds of Melrose Homes During Sandy

As of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, more than 400 Melrose homes were experiencing power outages, according to the National Grid website.

More than 400 Melrose homes were without power Tuesday afternoon following Hurricane Sandy, according to the National Grid website.

Of the 12,017 National Grid customers in Melrose, 433 were without power as of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a power outage map on the website. More than 28,000 of the nearly 225,000 National Grid customers in Middlesex County were in the dark as of 1:30 p.m., according to the map.

The number of power outages in Melrose has increased since 6 a.m. Tuesday, when there were 353 reported by NSTAR.
