Deal: Is man's best friend's coat looking a little matted this slushy season? Bring him into Melrose's Pristine Pooch for grooming and get an automatic 20 percent discount on any item in the store. Better yet, bring two dogs and get 10 percent off grooming rates, too. If Fido's cardio health is also on your mind, ask about the Main Street pet palace's dog-walking deals, which include additional walks at half price.

Deal: Had enough of leaving your warm house only to be greeted with a frigid car? Head on over to Array Company on Locust Street in Medford and get 10 percent off a basic remote starter install if you mention Melrose Patch. For $179 (instead of the usual $199), you can start your defroster from inside the house. Suddenly? Life. Is. Good.

Good through: Feb. 28

Follow Your Art

Deal: Don't let a never-ending winter stifle creativity (read: you need to get out of your house, don't you?). Sign up one child for the second winter session at Melrose's own Follow Your Art (Feb. 28 - April 8; $125) and take $25 off the cost for a second child. Want to see what FYA's art experiences are all about? Stop by the Open Studio Open House on Feb. 24 from 7:30-9:30 pm.

Good through: Session II starts Feb. 28

Deal: We all need a good lunch out now and then. All the better if it's good and cheap. That's pretty much assured at Kyotoya in Stoneham. For $6.95, you can make your own "lunch box," an experience that includes an astounding amount of food: miso soup, salad, choice of appetizer (example: shumai), choice of side dish (example: California Maki), choice of entrée (example: salmon teriyaki), and choice of rice or noodles. One word: Yum.

Good through: Ongoing

Deal: Already making plans for school vacation? No, not that vacation―summer vacation. Sign up for Trapeze School Summer Day Camp at Jordan's Furniture in Reading (mornings or full day, July 11-July 15 or July 18-July 22) before March 1 and receive 10 percent off camp prices. Warning: At $400+/week, it's not the most frugal camp out there. But somehow we think your kids will forgive you―big time.

Good through: March 1
