UPDATE: Snow Saturday, Winter Advisory Issued

The National Weather Forecast forecasts 2-4 inches for Melrose.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, forecasting 2-5 inches of snow in the area. The heaviest snow will fall from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Snow will begin to fall overnight and continue through the day on Saturday, dropping 2-4 inches of white stuff on Melrose, according to the National Weather Service's (NWS) latest forecast.

The NWS issued a hazard weather outlook on Friday morning, stating that the latest forecasts suggest the heaviest snowfall on Saturday will occur across interior Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.

"However, a shift in the storm track could result in changes in preciptation type and amounts," the outlook read. "Stay tuned to the latest updates and any possible advisories that may be issued later today."

Tonight there's a slight change of rain and snow showers before 2 a.m., then snow showers in the early morning hours turning to steady snow on Saturday, with a high near 33 and a morth wind between 5 and 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Saturday night there's a chance of snow showers before midnight as the snow moves out of the region. Sunday should be sunny and cold, with a high near 26 and a low around 13 at night.
