The Region: Housing Discrimintation Alleged in Arlington; Guy Allegedly Does Something Gross in Union Square

A look at some of the top recent stories from just outside Melrose.

A couple was sitting on a bench in the middle of Union Square at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday when a drunk man unzipped his pants and started urinating on the sidewalk, according to a police report. The boyfriend, sitting outside 61 Union Square, asked the man to stop exposing himself and peeing in public, the report says. In response, the man finished urinating, "moaning loudly" as he did, then wiped his hands on the boyfriend, according to the report. The boyfriend pushed the man, who then pulled a pocket knife from his pocket and waved the blade in front of the couple, the report says. -Chris Orchard

An Arlington property owner, along with its property manager and real estate management company, have been sued for violating the state’s anti-discrimination law, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced Monday. Nostalgia Properties LLC, which is based at 50 Grove St. in Arlington and owns the apartment complex on Brattle Drive, along with Nicholas Rivers, the property’s manager, and The Hamilton Company Inc., its management company, allegedly refused to rent to a prospective tenant because he intended to use a Section 8 affordable housing voucher to pay rent. Under state law, it’s illegal to discriminate against housing applicants because they receive public assistance, according to a press release from Coakley’s office. -John Waller

A Malden man is accused of murdering his partner inside of their Francis Street home early Friday morning. William Bryant Moseley, 45, was at the scene at 33 Francis St. and was subsequently arrested for allegedly strangling the victim to death. -Chris Caesar

A Wilmington teenager who had been was spotted and returned safely. Kenny Anglemyer, 14, walked out of Milestone Group Home on August 3, and had not been spotted since.
But on Wednesday, a woman was driving in Tewksbury when she spotted Anglemyer. Having seen a story about the missing teenager on Wilmington Patch, she called police and Anglemyer was returned to his family. -Matthew Schooley

Authorities have identified William R. Cataldo Jr., 56, of East Lexington, as the motorcyclist who died in , near the intersection of Winchester Drive and Russell Road. The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident, which, according to an incident report, involved Cataldo’s Harley Davidson and a sedan. The Massachusetts State Police’s accident reconstruction team is also a part of the investigation, but is no longer active on the scene of the accident. -Patrick Ball
