The Week Ahead: The Victorian Fair, Dog Festival and More

Here's some of what's happening in Melrose this week:

• The Melrose Public Library's monthly meeting of the Teen Advisory Group will take place on Thursday afternoon.
• The Melrose High School wrestling team will hold a fundraiser at Dockside Restaurant in Wakefield on Thursday evening.
• The Melrose Y's Common Ground teen center will celebrate its grand re-opening on Friday night at its new location in the Y's Main Street building.
• The Horace Mann School will host its Fall Fiesta on Friday at Mount Hood.
• The sixth annual "Amazing Grace" Golf Tournament to benefit the Trisomy 18 support organization and the Roosevelt Elementary School's Lexia Reading Program will be held on Friday at Mount Hood Golf Course.
• The Melrose Dog Festival on Saturday will feature a dog show, games, raffles, refreshments for both dogs and humans, and information on training and repsonsible dog ownerships.
• The Marathon Sports EMARC 5K Walk/Run on Sunday morning will kick off the annual Melrose Victorian Fair.

The Melrose School Committee will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.; public dialogue with the committee starts at 6:15 p.m. The items on the agenda are:

• Review and approve warrant for monthly bills of Memorial Hall
• Approve minutes from Aug. 4
• Status of dressing rooms renovation
• Box seats update
• Discuss and review marketing plan for Memorial Hall

The Melrose Housing Authority will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 a.m.. Items on the agenda:

• Approve contracts for the health emergency declared at the C.J. McCarthy Apartments.
