The Week Ahead: Wizards, Dancing, and a Fashion Swap

A look at some events in and around Melrose this upcoming week.

You can get rid of some clothes you no longer need and get the chance to pick up some new threads, see a movie, join a club, or even dance the night away.

Why Go: Attention Fashionistas, don't miss your chance to “Shop & Swap” for a good cause! Bring your gently used clothing items and get the chance to swap with others. All proceeds go to benefit EMARC. EMARC'S mission is to provide and promote services and supports for persons with intellectual disabilities and their families. There will also be treats, champagne, and raffles.

Where/When: , (69 W Emerson St, Melrose), Thursday, 6:00pm. 

Why Go: Grab your broomstick because you are invited to head over to the library for "Family Movies @ MPL - the Harry Potter Series!"  The library will be presenting each movie in this popular wizarding series up to the grand finale this summer. Refreshments will be provided.

When/Where: , (355 Franklin St, Melrose), Friday, 7:00pm–10:00pm. 

Why Go: Make sure your 8th graders don't miss the year-end celebration dance! They will enjoy music, dancing, socializing, dinner, beverages and dessert. The Melrose Highlands Congregational Church is excited to announce that they will once again be hosting the Year-End Celebration Dance for the 8th Grade students in the community. The dance is to celebrate the entrance into high school years and to say good-bye to the middle school years.

Pricing: Tickets are $25 in advance, and $30 at the door.

Where/When: , (121 W Foster St, Melrose), Thursday, 7:00pm. 

Why Go: Check out this Forum which is aimed at promoting civil discourse, reaffirming our country’s basic democratic values, and deepening respect for all human beings. This is one of the first advocacy programs sponsored by the Refugee Immigration Ministry, an organization that provides social support to refugees and asylum seekers in the area. The group hopes to address the concerns of people who want to live by their better convictions, and who have been dismayed by the tone of discourse in this country.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: , (590 Main St, Melrose), Friday, 10:00am–11:15am.

Why Go: Why not head over to Memorial Hall to enjoy some coffee and conversation with other parents and caregivers. There will also be free entertainment for children ages five and under.
