1) : It was one-and-done for Dan Richards and Melrose, as Belmont School Superintendent Dr. Thomas Kingston announced in a newletter sent to staff that Principal Dan Richards accepted an invitation to be the next principal of Belmont High School.

2) /Dolan to DCR: Stop One-Way Ravine Road Trial: Mayor Rob Dolan asked the state to cease the one-way Ravine Road trial period, sparking a debate in the comments over the experiment and brainstorming alternative solutions.

3) : Mayor Rob Dolan, incoming Superintendent Cyndy Taymore and retiring Superintendent Joe Casey spoke with reporters at a press conference about Dan Richards' departure, the future of Melrose High School and to address questions raised in the wake of five out of seven school principals all leaving the district this year.

4) : News broke on a Monday that after only one year as principal of , Dan Richards had been named one of two finalists to become the next Belmont High School principal. Three days later, he was offered and accepted the position (see article above).

5) : The MBTA said they were looking for a missing 10-year-old girl who boarded a 136 or 137 bus at 7:30 a.m. at the Melrose/Saugus line heading towards Oak Grove. Within an hour, the MBTA reported the girl had been found safe and sound.

6) : Another Melrose principal left afterafter one year in the district, as Winthrop School Principal Mary Alise Herrera left her post to become the principal at Tyngsborough Middle School. She was previously an assistant principal for preschool through Grade 2 and a fifth grade teacher at Tyngsborough Elementary School before coming to Melrose.

7) : The Melrose High School Class of 2012 walked across the stage on Fred Green Field to receive their high school diplomas and graduate from high school.

8) : The Hoover School, Roosevelt School and Horace Mann School each have new principals in place for next year and Melrose Public Schools have a new curriculum director, according to notices sent out to parents from Superintendent Joe Casey and a blog post by Mayor Rob Dolan.

10) : A Boston MedFlight helicopter landed on the East Knoll during rush hour to transport a Melrose-Wakefield Hospital female patient to a Boston hospital. The woman's husband later .
