On Jan. 14, this week's Whiz Kid Coy Walker joined students from the other 350 cities and towns in Massachusetts to talk about issues among youth and how they could become leaders and help their communities. He met Gov. Deval Patrick, the honorary chair of Project 351, and visited non-profits including Boston Cares, City Year, Citizens Schools, and Cradles to Crayons.

Donations to the Melrose Emergency Fund topped all previous records this holiday season, with local residents, businesses, and clubs donating almost $50,000 to the fund. “I am overwhelmed by the response to this year’s fund-raiser, especially in these uncertain times,” said Mayor Rob Dolan. “The generosity of Melrosians is unparalleled throughout the Commonwealth.”
