Where's the Cheapest Gas in Melrose? [July 1]

The following information comes from AAA Southern New England:

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down another four cents per gallon this week, the seventh consecutive week of decreases, according to AAA Southern New England. Prices have fallen 32 cents over that seven-week period.

AAA's June 27 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.649 per gallon, down four cents from a week ago. Prices were last this low back in mid-April. The current price is eight cents above the national average for self serve unleaded of $3.56. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $2.70.
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 40 cents, from a low of $3.49 to a high of $3.89. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up—every time.

Use the air conditioner conservatively. Most air conditioners have an "economy" or "recirculation" setting that reduces the amount of hot outside air that must be chilled. Both settings can reduce the air-conditioning load—and save gas.
