Where's the Cheapest Gas in Melrose? [July 22]

The following information comes from AAA Southern New England:
Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are edging up for a second consecutive week, rising a nickel this week over last, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s July 18 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.719 per gallon, jumping five cents from last week. The current price is four cents above the national average for self serve unleaded of $3.67. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $2.67, one dollar and four cents lower than today’s state average.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 34 cents, from a low of $3.619 to a high of $3.959.

To save gas, avoid sudden starts and stops. Rapid acceleration and hard braking can lower highway mileage by as much as 33 percent.
