Melrose Symphony plays Gershwin and more!

FROM
MELROSE TO PARIS AND BACK

The Melrose Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 96th season on Saturday, November 2 at 8 pm, making great music for everyone to enjoy!

The opening night will feature musical masterpieces from American
and French composers.  The brass section
hails in the 96th season with American and French fanfares by Copland and
Dukas. Crossing the Atlantic, the strings evoke the lapping waves of the ocean
in Debussy’s French impressionistic piece La Mer (“The
Sea”). On to Paris, Gershwin’s 1920’s jazz-influenced work, An American in Paris, evokes the sights and energy of a tourist on the
streets of Paris. The concert concludes with the sweeping grandeur of Ravel’s ever-popular Boléro
featuring soloists from each section of the orchestra.
