Mount Hood Trail Clean-Up Day

All Melrose residents are invited to Mount Hood Memorial Park to help clean up the trails behind First Pond on Sunday, July 11 from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers should check-in at the maintenance building next to First Pond, where they will be assigned a specific area and task. Participants will be performing general trail stewardship, including removal of invasive plant species, removal of major deadfall across trails, and clearing rubbish and recyclables from wooded areas along trails and at the pond's edge. All are urged to dress appropriately for this rain-or-shine event by wearing comfortable shoes/boots, and long pants and long-sleeve shirts to avoid being scratched while removing brush. Volunteers should also bring drinking water, rakes, and bug spray. Gloves and trash bags will be provided by Mount Hood. The event is sponsored by the Melrose Park Commission and Golf Management Company.
