Franny is the Perfect Companion Cat

This big girl (15 pounds) loves to play and to get right into her cat carrier.

PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society) is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization serving Melrose and other neighboring communities.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Franny and I am a very people oriented feline. I love humans and I will follow you around the house, brushing up against your legs.  I will also flop down so you can pet me even more.  Did I mention I like to be patted? Ok, I just wanted to be clear about that.

I am a big girl at 15 pounds, but I am not fat at all.  Still, there is lots of me to love.  I am very food motivated, so I think I could learn some tricks if you took the time to train me with a clicker and treats. One trick I am good at is drinking out of the faucet. I love moving water almost as much as I love people. Another trick I have mastered involves the cat carrier. If you open it up, I will go right in. Of course we will not be going out much, but if we had to, this could be a very helpful thing, don’t you think?

Besides tricks, I love, love, love to play. Any toy I see is lots of fun, although I really adore the cat dancer. And while I love to hang out and play with you, at three years old, I really can occupy myself. I love chasing catnip mice and they have a toy here at Pet Smart that is a ball in a kind of circular track. This thing drives me wild and I could play with it for hours all by myself.

Speaking of Pet Smart, it’s ok here. Life in the window has its upsides. There are always people to look at and I do enjoy when people interact with me, as you can see in my picture. But if I can be totally honest, seeing humans shop for their pets is not so much fun. I would really prefer to be at your house, sitting in a real window and watching birds and squirrels. As for the details, well my preference would be to live with you as a solo cat and be the center of your universe (hint, hint). Of course, if you have other cats, I could be fine with that as long as they are not aggressive and you give me time to get to know them.  The main thing I am seeking is a stable, loving home for the rest of my life.

Does that sound good to you? So what are you waiting for? Come meet me at Pet Smart in Danvers, MA (104 Andover St). Adoption hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from p.m. to 4 p.m. There are a bunch of us here. But you will know me because I will be the big beautiful tiger in the window who is waiting just for you.

If you are interested in learning more about Franny, or any of our available cats and dogs, contact PAWS at (781) 246-6111 or PAWSwakefield@yahoo.com.  Join us this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at VCA Wakefield Animal Hospital for a Kitten Party.  We have several litters of kittens ready for adoption and they all plan to attend our adoption hours this week, hoping you will come and fall in love.  Come early because kittens go fast.  We will also have other adult cats at this event.

We also do adoptions the first Saturday of the month at at the Woburn PETCO from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.  And now you can also meet some of our cats including Franny at our new adoption center at the Danvers Pet Smart on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.

PAWS is always looking for volunteers.  For information about volunteering or to view all our available pets, visit www.pawswakefield.org.  And, follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/PAWS.01880.
