IBEW Local 2222 endorses Katherine Clark for Congress

MALDEN -- Katherine Clark earned the support of the IBEW Local 2222 in her campaign for Congress. The greater Boston labor union of over 4,000 telecommunications workers wants to send Katherine to Congress because she will step up for women and working families.

"The economy may be recovering, but most families aren't feeling it," said Myles Calvey, business manager and financial secretary for the IBEW Local 2222. "We know we can count on Katherine Clark to go to Washington and stick up for the middle class. She's walked the picket line with our members, so we know she will hold the line against Republican extremists blocking equal pay for women and standing in the way of increasing the minimum wage."

As a mother of three boys in public schools and a daughter who helps care for her aging parents, Katherine understands the problems facing the middle class. In Congress, Katherine will work to change the conversation away from blocking women's rights and defunding Obamacare and toward creating jobs, improving education in our schools, increasing the minimum wage, and crafting a fairer tax code that ends breaks for corporations and special interests.

"I'm honored to earn the backing of the hard-working members of the IBEW Local 2222," said Clark, a Democratic state senator from Melrose. "I've spent my entire career fighting for women and families and I will work to keep the American Dream within their grasp. While Republican extremists may try to distract Congress by attacking women's rights and shutting down the federal government, I'll remain focused on fighting for the middle class."

In addition to the IBEW Local 2222, Katherine has earned the endorsements of the United Steelworkers Local 12012, the Ironworkers Local 7, NAGE/IBPO/SEIU Local 5000, Teamsters Local 25, IBEW Local 123 and the Women's Campaign Fund. She has also been placed "On The List" by EMILY's List and has the backing of Attorney General Martha Coakley and Melrose Mayor Robert Dolan.
