Katherine Clark wins endorsement of IAFF Cambridge Fire Fighters Local 30

MALDEN – Katherine Clark earned the endorsement of IAFF Cambridge Fire Fighters Local 30 in her campaign for Congress. The Cambridge Fire Fighters have endorsed Katherine because she will stand up to extremist Republicans in Congress who have shut down the government to block health insurance instead of helping middle-class families by increasing the minimum wage, securing pay equity for women, and investing in early education.

“Katherine has a proud tradition of supporting unions and working families across the Commonwealth,” said Cambridge Fire Fighters President Colin Walsh. “Her work ethic and history of public service to our communities are exactly the qualities and core values that will continue to move this nation forward.”

"I’m grateful to have the support of the Cambridge Fire Fighters," Clark said. "They fight each day to help our families and keep our communities safe. I’m honored by their recognition of my work to help our families and communities, and I look forward to the opportunity to continue that work in Congress on behalf of Cambridge and all 24 cities and towns in the Fifth Congressional District.”

Republicans have refused to end the government’s budget shutdown and are a week away from ruining the country’s credit in an attempt to deny 30 million Americans from obtaining health insurance and attack women’s health care. In Congress, Katherine will fight extremist Republican attacks on Obamacare and women’s rights and prioritize helping families as they work to pay for college educations, cover health care costs, and save for retirement.

Katherine has been endorsed by EMILY’s List, the Women's Campaign Fund, Attorney General Martha Coakley, U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, D-Pennsylvania, Melrose Mayor Robert Dolan, former State Senator Susan Fargo, D-Lincoln, State Rep. Marjorie Decker, D-Cambridge, and State Rep. Paul Brodeur, D-Melrose. She also has the backing of the Melrose Democratic City Committee, the Winchester Democratic Town Committee, IAFF Melrose Local 1617 Executive Board, APWU Local 100, IBEW Local 2222, IBEW Local 2321, the United Steelworkers Union Local 12012, Ironworkers Local 7, NAGE/IBPO/SEIU Local 5000, Teamsters Local 25, and the IBEW Local 123.
