The Sierra Club endorses Katherine Clark for Congress

MALDEN – The Sierra Club has announced its endorsement of State Senator Katherine Clark in the Special Election for Congress in Massachusetts’s Fifth District. Clark, the Democratic Nominee for Congress, earned the backing of the nation’s most influential environmental advocacy organization because of her commitment to stand up to extremist Republicans who for years have blocked action on climate change.

“Congress needs Katherine Clark,” said Phil Sego, Chair of the Massachusetts Sierra Club Political Committee. “Her passion, experience and skills will help protect America’s air, land and water, while moving us toward safer, saner policies on climate change.”

“It’s a great honor to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club,” Clark said. “Climate change is one of the most urgent issues of our time, affecting not only our natural environment, but our economy, public health and national security. We must act now to fully fund and implement our existing environmental protections and act decisively to improve energy efficiency, reduce fossil fuel dependency and spur innovation in clean energy production.”
