Winchester Democrats endorse Katherine Clark for Congress

WINCHESTER – The Winchester Democratic Town Committee voted to endorse Katherine Clark in the race for the Fifth Congressional District seat. Winchester’s Democrats support Katherine for Congress because of her commitment to change the conversation in Washington from extremist Republican attacks on women’s rights to creating jobs, securing pay equity, investing in early education, and reducing the epidemic of gun violence in our communities.

"Katherine is a courageous leader who has always been there not only for Winchester but also for Massachusetts," said Bob Colt, Winchester Democratic Town Committee chair and Democratic State Committeeman. "She's a true leader on protecting women's rights, investing in early education, standing up for the middle class, and all of the concerns of the people of the Fifth Congressional District. We look forward to her going to Washington to confront extremist Republicans who are trying to roll back women's rights and repeal Obamacare."

As a state senator, Katherine has advocated for increased funding for Winchester schools and supported both the town center improvements and the planned renovation of the Winchester Center commuter rail station. Katherine would go to Congress and fight to invest in communities by reversing harmful budget cuts from sequestration, properly funding our schools, and modernizing our infrastructure. In Washington, Katherine would also advocate for common sense legislation to address climate change and implement meaningful gun control reforms.

“It’s an honor to receive the endorsement of the Winchester Democrats,” Clark said. “In Congress, I’ll fight for Winchester and all of the 24 cities and towns of the Fifth Congressional District because progress can’t wait on the issues that will make a real difference for our families and our communities.”

Katherine has been endorsed by IBEW Local 2222, IBEW Local 2321, the United Steelworkers Union Local 12012, Ironworkers Local 7, NAGE/IBPO/SEIU Local 5000, Teamsters Local 25, IBEW Local 123 and the Women's Campaign Fund. She has been placed "On The List" by EMILY's List and has the backing of Attorney General Martha Coakley, Melrose Mayor Robert Dolan, State Rep. Marjorie Decker, D-Cambridge, and State Rep. Paul Brodeur, D-Melrose.
