On Friday, March 15th, students of German at Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School and Melrose High School were treated to a unique interactive concert by Uwe Kind. This unusual type of concert is one where students are not sitting and watching but rather up singing and dancing. All in German!

Uwe Kind is a teacher, musician, and performer who travels the globe teaching German via music.  His concerts fuse melody, rhythm, movement, and language phrases into a total experience that inspires young people to pursue and acquire German.

The students in grades 6-8 were out of their seats and on stage for most of the ninety minute plus concert.   Many of the songs and movements were familiar to students as they are a part  of Mr. Sean Miner's German classes at MVMMS.

The multi-media show took students from daily classroom learning into hyper-German from the first song on.   Students were eager to learn new vocabulary and phrases while singing and dancing to German. Almost every student wanted a chance to get on stage to participate and most had succeeded by the grand finale.

Afterwards Uwe Kind took time to chat with the students in German and to take group photos withsome of his new fans.  Over 450 students left school on that Friday afternoon with a new experience in learning German as well as some cool new vocabulary!
