Four Mystic Valley Softball Players Named All Stars

Four members of the Mystic Valley softball team were recently named to the Commonwealth Athletic Conference all star team.  The four seniors all played an instrumental role in leading the team into the MIAA Tournament. Their coach, Scot Barry, had high praise for all four girls:

Rachel Tortora:  Rachel was a team leader this year batting close to .400 and solidifying the catching position for the team in her senior year.  Rachel can play just about anywhere on the field at a high level.  Even though she will be playing college softball next year in the infield, she was very unselfish and stepped into the catchers’ role mid way through the year and earned an All-Star team selection at the position.

Jordan Sullivan: Jordan batted over .400 on the season and played her usual position of 1B but contributed more as an outfielder in our games against big conference opponents.  Jordan has been a phenomenal athlete at Mystic Valley and will be competing in the post season for Mystic Valley in her third consecutive season this year (volleyball, basketball and softball).  Jordan’s presence on the field will be solely missed next year

Michelle Doherty:  Michelle moved into the leadoff position in the batting order vacated by graduating CAC MVP Sarah Marraccino and was very impressive this year.  She batted over .450, led the team in runs scored and bunt base hits and always gave the opposing pitcher something to think about.  She played a solid 2B and constantly demonstrated her love of the game on and off the field.

Violet Sullivan:  Violet really came into her own this year holding down the cleanup position in the lineup and displaying an intensity that is unrivalled on the team.  She really worked on her game over the last few seasons and led them team in hitting this year.  Offensively, she can hit for power, she can slap hit and bunt.  She was a clutch performer driving in many big runs when we needed them.  Violet demonstrated to the rest of the team what hard work and commitment really are.
