Melrose Girls U12-1 win State Championship
The Melrose girls' hockey U12-1 team won the Tier III State Championship, beating Woburn 3-1 in the final game on Sunday.
The team's first three games were shutouts against the Brewins, Natick and Milton then they met Charlestown in the semifinals and won 2-1 in their tightest match against this team all year.
The girls would show Woburn who was champion by scoring fast in the first period and holding Woburn off through the whole game and winning with a score of 3-1 to capture the the title of State Champions.

The Melrose girls are: Hannah Aveni, Carolyn Mahoney, Ella Saracco, Mairead Clark, Jill Mattucci, Grace Sikora, Emma Sikora, Samantha Kroon, Jill Mercer, Quin Healey, Lexi Rosenbaum, Hannah Walsh and Linnea Kelley.
