License to Dog

To clarify signs that were posted down at the park over this past week (and have since been updated), we would like to remind the members of our dog park community of park rules that have been in place since the park opened. The Melrose Dog Park at Ell Pond is for the enjoyment of Melrose residents and their guests, and ALL dogs using the park must be wearing a current municipal dog license and rabies tag.

To help maintain the safety of both people and dogs, Coral, our Melrose Animal Control Officer, will be visiting the park on a regular basis to ensure that all dogs have their current tags on display. The annual fee for dog licensing in Melrose is $20 ($23 if your dog is not spayed or neutered). Renewal is due every January - if you have not renewed your Melrose dog license, please click here to access instructions on how to do so:http://bit.ly/1j73dsU  If you are a guest of a Melrose resident from a surrounding community, please check with your city for information on obtaining a current dog license and rabies tag.

For more information on why licensing your dog is vitally important (not to mention, it is also the law) dog behaviorist and guru Cesar Millan sums it up nicely in this article: http://bit.ly/1cpmheg THANK YOU all in advance for your cooperation and commitment to making the park a safe place for all who visit!
