Tisei Endorses Medeiros

"Monica brings a passion for public service and a dedication to our communities, which is unparalleled," said Richard Tisei. "I know she will make a great state senator."

Former State Senator Richard Tisei announced today that he endorses Melrose Alderman Monica Medeiros in her bid for State Senator in the 5th Middlesex District.

“Monica brings a passion for public service and a dedication to our communities, which is unparalleled,” said Richard Tisei. “I know she will make a great state senator.”

Tisei served this district as state senator for twenty years before leaving to seek higher office in 2010.

“I have seen by Richard Tisei’s actions as a state senator, how many lives one can touch in a positive way in that role,” said Medeiros, who had interned for then State Senator Richard Tisei and later went on to work on one of his reelection campaigns. “I am honored to have Richard Tisei’s endorsement and will seek to serve others as he did.”

Tisei, who is currently a candidate for US Congress in the 6th Congressional District, went on to say, “While we do not agree on every issue, we agree on the big issues – taxes, spending and the need to reform and improve our state government.”

Last year, she was elected the District 5 Representative on the Massachusetts Municipal Councillors’ Association, and by virtue of this position serves on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Municipal Association.

A lifelong resident of Melrose, Medeiros is a product of the Melrose Public Schools. She went on to graduate summa cum laude from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She later earned a Master’s degree in political communication from Emerson College.
