According to the dictionary definition of liberalism….it is “A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans and the autonomy of the individual and favoring civil and political liberties, government by law with the consent of the governed, and protection from arbitrary authority.” However, based on how this ideology is currently being practiced in this country by its leaders, one might think that it is an illness. I submit the following as examples for support of this idea. Example #1: When the controversy was developing around Obamacare back in 2010, the former Speaker of the House and current Minority Leader of the House, Nancy Pelosi, told us, “"But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." Does this sound like the mind of well person? Example #2: President Obama recently told a group of students at a University that everyone is being confused and side-tracked from important matters by these “phony scandals”. Does this sound like the mind of a well person or that of someone who is delusional?? He was, of course, referring to the Fast and Furious Program allowing gun running illegally be transported to Mexican criminals thereby killing Mexicans and Americans, the Benghazi incident in Libya where 4 Americans were killed, his administration was caught lying about the cause of it, and that no one has been brought to justice after almost a year even though the President promised the perpetrators would be found and brought to justice, the IRS targeting conservative groups applying for 501c4 status and delaying their approval and asking illegal questions and finally the admittance of such practices by a senior person at IRS, the collection of metadata by the NSA on all Americans including phone and internet communications without getting proper authorization from the FISA court and violating US law, and the illegal spying on correspondent Jim Rosen after the Justice Department got a warrant under false pretenses and Eric Holder, Attorney General, who lied to a Congressional committee about it. Example #3: Harry Reid, Senator and one of the most powerful national Democratic leaders said, “Social Security is a program that works and it’s going to be fully funded for the next 40 years…No, it’s not a crisis. This is something that’s perpetuated by people who don’t like government. Social Security’s fine.” Given that it is acknowledged by top financial experts including the Social Security and Medicare Boards of Trustee (http://www.ssa.gov/oact/trsum/) that the SS program will be bankrupt beginning in 2027, does this sound like a well person?
